Hi there, friend! I’m Margaret Mountain but you can call me Meg. I know, I know. You’re probably thinking, “Is Mountain really her last name?!” Yes – it really is! I didn’t believe my husband when I first met him either. We’ve been married for almost 13 years now and I’m still obsessed with every t-shirt, mug, or sign that has the word mountain on it. I mean, c’mon. Wouldn’t you be?! 😉
Why I Blog
I started this blog as a way to share all the fun things that happen around the Mountain house. I named it Loving Mountain Life very intentionally. To start, with a last name like Mountain how can you not use it somehow?! However, there’s a little more to it. It’s two-fold actually.
First, I really do love my life. The great times, the rough times, I love all of it. Since life on earth is fleeting I’m determined to make the most of every moment, good or bad. I’m humbled to share some of what we celebrate and create in the Mountain house with readers.
Second {and more importantly!}, I adamantly believe that we should do everything in love. Every little thing. Mother Teresa is quoted saying, “Do small things with great love.” I couldn’t agree more. I don’t think she was talking about the ooey-gooey-romantic-hugs-and-kisses kind of love {although that kind is great too!}, but the let’s-put-someone-else’s-needs-before-my-own kind of love.
I believe very strongly that at the root of everything good in life is love. Every relationship based on that selfless kind of love comes out on top. Every peanut butter sandwich made with that kind of love tastes better. Every forgotten back-pack taken to school with that kind of love wins. It is my goal to live this kind of loving life. I want this blog to be a way to keep me accountable. Declare and share, people! So here I am, sharing our life’s adventures in the Mountain house with family, friends, and other passersby. It’s not always pretty but it’s always full and I love it.
About Me
I am a wife, a mother, a sister, a friend, a lover of God, and a Registered Dietitian who “retired” about 7 years ago when our first baby was born. I now have four babies which blows my mind! Along with them I care for a friend’s kiddos a few days a week. It. rocks. My time with {all six of} my babies is priceless!
I all-caps LOVE to craft, create, and throw parties. From homemade valentines to cupcake toppers to refinishing furniture. You name it, I love to DIY it! I have a craft cabinet that even Martha Stewart would envy and boy do I use it!
As a dietitian-turned-mom I love all things food and fitness. I love to be in the kitchen figuring out ways to get my kids not to gag on their spinach. I’m committed to feeding my family well so we eat clean – naturally & organically as much as possible. I run to relieve stress. Maybe I drink a little wine to do that, too. 🙂
I’m sometimes funny and always goofy. I’m never caught up on laundry and I mess up a lot.
About our Family
My husband {that’s Dan} and I have been married for almost 13 years. I’m not sure how that’s possible considering I’m still in my early 20’s but hey, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. 😉 He is a teacher, a coach, and throws a rockin’ kitchen dance party. He also takes the garbage out like. a. boss. We are committed to raising our children with a heart for God and for others. Seven years ago our first daughter, Eva, was born. Since then Eva has been joined by a sister, Nora (4 yrs), and two brothers, Micah (2 1/2 yrs) and Isaiah (15 months). Did I mention a full life? Well, it’s certainly a full house!
As our house has filled up, we have been very thankful for the financial advice we received from Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University. Raising kids is expensive {who knew?!} so we are committed to doing more with less. I’ll try to share with you some of our family’s budget-savy tricks for living on a teacher’s salary with four little ones. Hint: there’s lots of DIY-ing involved! 🙂
