Hello lovelies! I have a confession to make. I am officially obsessed…with script fonts. And chalkboard art. No matter how hard I try, when it comes time to decorate my mantel for the season, I end up back in the same place – with some scripty-font-chalkboard art in my grandmother’s old window. It’s just such a perfect combo! Gah! #sorrynotsorry
Now that spring is officially here I thought I’d share my latest creation using this Ernest Hemingway quote from A Moveable Feast.
“When spring came…there were no problems except where to be happiest.”
Amen, brother! The glimpses of sunshine and rising temperatures are making me swoon! At last, we can throw open the doors and get outside without so much fuss. Mamas, you know what I mean? With so many tiny ones in the house it can be hard to get outdoors in the colder, winter months. I’m pretty sure it takes me 2,357 minutes to get them all dressed in their snow gear for about 2 minutes outside before the first meltdown. Don’t get me wrong – it’s totally worth it! But it’s an event to say the least. While our family makes it a priority to get outside no matter what, these spring days make it much easier to send them running about in tee-shirts and rain boots. Funny story: Our 3rd born tromped through the woods wearing just that the other day. Literally *just* that. He had an unfortunate incident with a puddle and afterward refused to wear his pants. Eeek! Haha!
Needless to say, when it comes to all things spring I. am. ready. Here’s a look at our mantel right now.
And here is that gorgeous scripty-font-chalkboard art printable I mentioned earlier. It’s all yours for FREE, my dears! If you like what you see, subscribe to our mailing list and follow along on social media!

Once you’ve downloaded and saved the chalkboard art printable you can email it or take it on a thumb drive to any office supply store and ask for them to print it as an engineer print. I had this 18×24 sign printed for $2.41 at FedEx! Plus, they’ll even trim the edges for you. I “float” it in my window frame using tiny squares of good ol’ Scotch tape in the corners.
In case you were wondering about anything else, here’s a list of sources for the other goodies you see:
Aqua lantern – Ikea
Beaded wreath – Joann Fabrics
Aqua wreath – Target
Moss bunny – Target
Easter eggs – Joann Fabrics
Hyacinths in vases – Aldi
Letter M – Gift from my aunt
Green and aqua books – My reading habit 😉
Aqua Mason jar – My Grandmother’s collection
Green hydrangeas – Joann Fabrics
Hope this mantel art can bring a smile to your face and a little spring indoors, sweet friends! Happiest day!
xoxo,
Meg

Nice art Meg!! I did 2 chalkboard art projects at Christmas and I loved them. I also really like how you let a person know where all the accessories came from. I particularly like the hyacinths in vases from Aldi’s.

Meg,
We have the same fireplace but your mantel is painted, I have painted all the other woodwork in my home but was a bit fearful there, but seeing it on your brick which is similar to mine…I think I am going to go for it…maybe even this weekend!
I love your printable, but I have a question. How do you get the chalkboard look? is that the paper it is printed on at Fed Ex?
I love it and thank you for making it free…the Quote is very Special…takes me back to some of my favorite books that always have such great thoughts written out for us to enjoy!

You know what’s funny — I have dark trim in the house (from the previous owners) and have been wrestling with whether or not to paint it. If you paint your wood mantle, I’ll paint my woodwork. Hahaha!
The chalkboard look is from the background of the printable. If you ask for an engineer print (or blueprint) at FedEx they print it on white, over-sized paper. The end result is a very “chalk-boardy” look. I hope that helps! Love that you found us, Debbie! 🙂
